PROFIL
Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan (SMK ) PGRI 1 Surabaya dan terkenal sebutan Sekolah Teknologi Menengah (STM) awal mula saat didirikan, dan merupakan Sekolah Swasta tergolong tua di Surabaya dan berdiri dibawah naungan YPLP PGRI Jawa Timur.
SMK PGRI 1 Surabaya berdiri pada tahun pelajaran 1997 – 1998, lebih tepatnya dokumen SK berdiri pada tanggal 25 Nopember 1978. Kelahiran SMK PGRI 1 Surabaya didorong atas dasar melihat banyaknya siswa tamatan SMP yang ingin melanjutkan ke STM Negeri tetapi tidak diterima karena terbatasnya fasilitas ruang, maka didirikan SMK PGRI 1 Surabaya
Pemrakarsa berdirinya SMK PGRI 1 Surabaya pada tahun 1977 / 1978 adalah : Bapak Soewarno, BA, Drs. J. Soewito, Giman Winarto, Drs. Ismanan, dan Lanjtur Soedarsono. Pada saat didirikan terdapat 3 (tiga) jurusan : 1. Mesin Tenaga, 2.Listrik Instalasi, 3. Bangunan Gedung. Kemudian tahun demi tahun, SMK PGRI 1 Surabaya ada 4 Jurusan yaitu: Teknik Pemesinan (TPm), Teknik Instalasi Tenaga Listrik (TITL), Teknik Kendaraan Ringan Otomotif (TKRO) dan Teknik dan Bisnis Sepeda Motor (TBSM).
Kegiatan belajar mengajar dilaksanakan dulunya pada sore hari dan menumpang di STM Negeri 1 Surabaya Jl. Patua No. 26 Surabaya. Pada tahun 1997 mulai membangun gedung sendiri, tahun 2000 mulai berangsur-angsur menempati gedung sendiri di Jl. Jemursari VIII No. 120 Surabaya, Kelurahan Jemurwonosari, Kecamatan Wonocolo, Kota Surabaya. Dan kegiatan belajar mengajar dilaksanakan pagi dan sore.
Berdasarkan Keputusan Menteri Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan Republik Indonesia No. 36/0/1997, tanggal 7 Maret 1998 tentang perubahan nomor klatur STM menjadi SMK, maka STM PGRI 1 Surabaya menjadi SMK PGRI 1 Surabaya. Pada perkembangannya SMK PGRI 1 Surabaya berupasya meningkatkan pelayanan, peralatan, sehingga dapat meningkatkan Status : TERDAFTAR, DIAKUI dan DISAMAKAN.
Perkembangan selanjutnya meningkat statusnya menjadi Sekolah Standar Nasional (SSN). Peningkatan status merupakan tantangan bagi SMK PGRI 1 Surabaya, maka untuk itu SMK PGRI 1 Surabaya berupaya untuk mendapatkan Setifikat Manajemen Mutu ISO 9001 : 2008 dari Tuv Nord dan pada tanggal 5 Mei 2010 SMK PGRI 1 Surabaya telah mendapatkan Sertifikat ISO 9001 : 2008
